Tales of Home

We gratefully received a wonderful gift this morning — stories of home shared with us by the many guests who visited us today, on Grandparents and Special Friends Day. There were tales of moving, of going home to find it no longer familiar, of beloved pets, of extended family, and of exploring near and far. These tales resonated with the ideas of home we have been considering in our reading of The Hobbit, as well as in book groups (Wonderful Wizard of Oz, Winnie the Pooh, Little House on the Prairie, and Peter Pan and Wendy) and in the library book club (The Jumbies). They also clearly resonated with everyone in the room, young and less young alike. Our hour of storytelling started quietly and picked up as we went along, with memories jogged and people listening raptly. Thank you to all of our guests for sharing yourselves with us this morning.
