Several families from our group hauled themselves up to Monroe Township, New Jersey to lovely Historic Dey Farm, where we were treated to a warm, sunny afternoon and two base ball games played by 1864 rules, in 1864 garb, and with lots of wonderful hospitality from the two ball clubs involved. We were also treated to a surprise appearance on the field by our own beloved… Mark! We were surprised; he was surprised — surprises all around. We have added to our experiential knowledge as well as our observations, Mark even more than the rest of us, perhaps. All of this will come in handy a couple of weeks from now when our baseball study gets started in earnest in the classroom.
(Ed.: If folks who were there wish to send us their photos, we’ll add some of them to the blog as well!)
